Some medicinal plants that are used in folk medicine or used for preventive purposes, as well as widely used in cooking, can be effortlessly grown at home simply on the windowsill.
How to grow medicinal plants at home
Basil is considered extremely unpretentious, and yet very useful plant. In the lands of Ukraine it was widely used in the olden days with ritual meanings on special holidays: for example, on Makoveya, Ivan Kupala, Honey Savior, Trinity, Epiphany and Green Holidays.
As for growing the plant at home, it can be done in the following way:
- seeds are poured into a wide container,
- then cover them with soil and water them,
- After that – cover with a film.
It is recommended to air such a seedling every day until the sprouts straighten. After the appearance of true leaves – it is necessary to sprout.
Perennial herbaceous herbaceous plant of the family of deafcarpaceae with a short rhizome maternica helps with colds, acts as an antiseptic. And in cooking it is used under the name oregano. In addition, motherberry is often used as an insecticide to control household parasites (bedbugs, fleas, moths).
Here’s what you need to know about growing it:
- The bush is propagated by division, cutting into parts so that there are several healthy buds,
- They require pots with a capacity of at least 3 liters.
Lavender, a genus of plants of the family of deaf-blooded plants, is considered relaxing and soothing. And lavender flowers are also used to produce valuable lavender oil, which is used in perfumery and medicine. Some species of lavender are grown as ornamental plants. The way to grow it at home is this:
- note that only small-leaved lavender lives indoors,
- the plant is propagated by cuttings in pots of 3 liters,
- Lavender requires light for at least 12 hours and a temperature of 20-23 degrees Celsius.
